...reading five and a half months of Funky Winkerbean, where the storyline has been watching one of the major characters die of cancer. Has anyone else seen this? She's finally dead and I have this horrible feeling that there'll be another two months of funerals and 'coming to terms.' Remember when funny pages were funny?

Yep, I've been following it too, Al. It's not like it came as a surprise, but....sheesh.

You're surprised, Al? This is the cartoonist who ended one of his other strips by having the main character shot and killed by an unseen murderer in the second-to-last strip.

Um, I don't think I read that one. I did just find out, though, that the entire series is jumping ten years into the future on 10/22. I'm hoping for hoverboards.

That does sum things up rather succinctly.

Misery is the "Jumpin Jack Flash" level of Elite Beat Agents...in Elite Beat Divas mode. My hands hurt...

Getting caught in a cold, drizzly rain halfway back to the work building wearing a fleece jacket, therefore having to sit in the cubicle smelling like a wet sheep for the rest of the day.

Your parents splitting up.
Which is, incidentally, part of why I've been kinda quiet around here lately. I'm only now starting to rejoin society.
This is a great response to people who don't know about it, though. I'm beginning to cope, so when a schoolmate asks teasingly why I skipped class I can spit back "My parents are breaking up!" and see the "oh god why did I say that" look on their face and enjoy it.

Sorry to hear that Sarah... that's one of the hardest things to go through. We're here if you want to sound off about it.

Very sorry to hear it, Sarah. My parents are in the middle of something similar, and it's nothing if not miserable.

A kidney stone. It's been a pretty miserable day.
