I looked for a thread about this, and there isn't any, so here it is.
I think this show is freakin' hillarious. Steve Carrell is THE MAN and his character is so funny! He is like that weird dork trying to fit in, but sort of a jerk at the same time. I love the moments when he tries to make jokes. Anyone catch the episode last thursday? it was a rerun where the nerdy fat guy (I just started watching the show...give me a break...milton I think?) became a security guy. I haven't seen every episode in season one but I saw like five of them, and I can't wait for the premiere tomorrow! Yes!
So who likes this show?
PS: I know there is some other "the office", and frankly, I don't care how much better the original or whatever is, I've never seen it, and this is about the new one, so start your own thread if you want to whine.

I like it. I'm not quite as much a fan of the awkward humor style that comes from making you feel extremely uncomfortable for characters, so I don't think it's as funny as some other shows on nowadays. (Scrubs and My Name Is Earl both would've deserved that Emmy more.) But I definitely like it, and I'm curious to see how they'll try to handle the Jim/Pam situation this season. Also, the Dwight/Phyllis thing is so disturbing, I can't look away.
And yes, Steve Carrell is hilarious. I'm required to like him anyway because he's a fellow alum, but I'm pretty sure I'd find him just as funny even if he wasn't.

I prefer the American version to the original British one, to be honest. It's a great idea for a show and it works really well- the British one had moments of sublime brilliance but too much of that buttock-clenching awkwardness for me.

I have never seen the Brittish one either but I love me the American one. Jim Halpert makes the show for me...forget Carrel, what Jim does to Dwight on a weekly basis is fan-tastic! But (SPOILER) what happened between Jim and Pam at the end of last season could potentially end the show for me.

Don't we all?
I'm still waiting to see how those messages Jim left for Ryan are going to come back to bite him. So, so unwise. Understandable, but unwise.

You know, for a few seconds I forgot all about that quote and just thought, "Uh... be that as it may, 'tino, we're really just here to talk about The Office."
Agreed, really glad they didn't drag it out. The bit with Pam befriending that art dude was an okay red herring (and let's hope that's all it was), but considering the huge contrivances most shows go through to keep their leads apart until the final season (I'm looking at you, Scrubs), it's refreshing to hope that The Office won't take that tactic. I'm ready for a season focusing on Michael and Holly's relationship instead.

Agreed all around. I also am really loving the Michael/Holly relationship (Molly? Or is that too confusing?) I'm just glad they gave Michael a love interest who actually likes him.

haha, as I typed out that quote I thought to myself, "I sure do hope folks remember that quote from the episode..."
Drew- completely agreed on the Scrubs note. It's OK for people to keep liking one another, right? I mean, if Angela can date Dwight for like 3 years before they break up, Pam and Jim can make it at least that long! The bit with the art dude had Husband saying "no, Pam! No chubby Jim stand in! No!" in the exact tone he uses to reprimand our dog.
