LOST season 4 (and 5...)

Seriously? No one started this thread, yet? It's been 12 full hours since the premiere ended!

I started watching seasons 1-3 on dvd at Christmas and finally finished wednesday night just so I could join a discussion with you guys! Step up!

Considering there are only seven episodes left this season, I hope they don't stretch out the story too much. The line has been drawn in the sand (or the dirt, considering that last scene between Jack and Locke), now its time for the spaghetti to hit the fan.

The family and I spent the commercial breaks last night discussing who we think will be part of the "Oceanic Six." We know Jack, Kate, and Hurley make it off the island, so there are only three spots left. Thoughts, anyone?

I wasn't blown away, but I'm just so happy to see a new show on the air that I'm not griping. I really like pitting the lostaways against each other again a'la Season 1 (the beach people vs the cave people), and I like the Oceanic Six and the implication that some of our cast is getting left behind. I admit to being a little confused why they kept Naomi alive just long enough to kill her again, though.

EDIT: sorry, trying to post at work means it takes me like an hour to type these out.

I'm betting Ben was the guy in the casket during the finale, so I imagine he'll be one, and Desmond saw Claire and the baby getting into a helicopter, so they could be 5 and 6. Of course, there've also been rumors of bringing back Michael and Walt, so they may play into it, too.

I'm pretty sure when they say "Oceanic Six," they're only referring to the original passengers of flight 815. If Desmond or Ben or any of the Others make it back (though I don't know why Ben would want to leave), I don't think they'll be included in that group.

I'm also willing to bet that the person in the casket wasn't Ben. My guess that the deceased is someone higher in the pecking order that hasn't been introduced. Jacob, maybe?

according to the obit jack has in the season 3 finale, the person in the casket is 'of new york' not that that means anything, really.
Did anyone catch who is in the chair in the cabin that Hurley sees? It's someone we know!

Edited to add- I think the guy in the casket is someone we probably haven't met, yet. They're just trying to mess with us

I saw a popular fan theory is that it was Michael in the casket, and Kate resented he got away so early. But my guess is if the theory was publicized, it's not true. My money is still on Ben or Juliet.

And how creepy was the supposed lawyer guy? Wow, the expression he had...

Not to mention the lawyer's name was Abaddon, who is a demon in the Book of Revelations.

Makes you wonder just what sort of people are coming to the island (as if we haven't been wondering that already)...

Also, as far the Six goes, Kate kind of implies that Sawyer got off the island, too, in Through the Looking Glass.

And I just remembered: Jack tried to shoot Locke! Woah!

After last year’s season finally I remember reading that some fans did an extreme close up of the obituary. From that we learned that the person was found hung in their apartment and the name of the deceased started with a J. A lot of the fans, including myself, think it’s Sawyer AKA James (his real name).

Sawyer committing suicide somewhat makes sense. Most of his life has revolved around him someday finding the man who destroyed his family and exacting revenge. With the task now complete you can tell that he has all but lost any will do much of anything (I can’t recall him calling anyone by a funny name in a long time). The only thing that might give him a reason to go on is to make a difference as a leader of the Losties (remember how happy he was playing the roll before Jack and the others escaped from the Others?). If he is one of the Oceanic Six he would have nothing to look forward to once he got back. Depression most likely took over and led to suicide.

On another note. The island must want Lockes babies. He certainly recovered pretty darn quickly from that gut shot from just a day earlier. Oh and it looks like Locke has been hanging out with his new best friend, Jacob.

As far as the casket goes... I am willing to bet that it is either Sawyer or Locke.

Great episode last night. It certainly has raised some big questions (as usual).

And I really loved how they explained Locke's ability to be up and about just a day or so after getting shot in the gut.

Anybody else have a strong feeling about who Ben's "man on the boat" is?

My theory is that the name of the insider starts with M and ends with L.

Would be an excellent way to bring them back. Although that would mean that he had hell of a lot of access to the various files for someone that was just randomly picked up.
