I'd have to put a vote in for Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Take your favorite performers from NOFX, Lagwagon, and No Use For a Name... give them a whole mess of songs to cover... and let the fun begin! Their albums are great background music for road trips (not that I remember, since I haven't heard my CD in quite some time... if only someone would give it back). I recommend Blow In The Wind, which covers 60's and 70's pop hits.

Recently I bought Joss Stone's "Soul Sessions" for my friend's birthday, and I gave it a listen beforehand. I didn't really care much for her before, since her big hit was a soul cover of the White Stripes' "Fell in Love with a Girl," but after listening to it I'm considering buying a copy for myself. I'm not sure if she's well-known in the States or not, but she's a 16/17 year old British girl with an incredibly amazing voice. If you like Norah Jones or funky soul music in general, you should give Joss Stone a download and a listen.

Pretty much everything Ronnie James Dio has been involved with is musical gold. He is probably the greatest rock singer of all time IMHO. Check out any or all of the bands he's been in: Rainbow (Long Live Rock N Roll, Gates of Babylon), his turn in Black Sabbath (The Mob Rules, Heaven and Hell), or his solo band, Dio (Holy Diver, Rainbow in the Dark, Last in Line).

I really recommend Sixpence None The Richer's greatest hits.

Loretta Lynn's "Van Lear Rose" is phenomenal, and I do not say that just because I'm the world's biggest White Stripes fan. It's really good. Even people who are anti-country (such as myself) will appreciate it, because this isn't today's country... it's LORETTA LYNN! AND SHE IS AWESOME!
Okay. Got carried away there.

I downloaded a live cover of AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" by Celine Dion and Anastacia a while ago, and I can't get enough of it. It rocks to the extreme!

I've been looking for that *everywhere* and can't find it. Why I want one of my favorite songs smeared indelibly I can't quite say, but the fact remains that I feel the need to hear this song.

The Unicorns- Who Will Cut Our Hair When We Are Gone? (Indy Rock) This is a great Canadian band. I got their CD for Christmas from my brother. My favorite songs on it are "Lets Get Known" "Ready To Die" and "I Was Born A Unicorn". If you like Modest Mouse you'll probably like these guys. I sure hope I win the "Reccomend An Obscure CD" game.

He Is Legend. A local band, but they're teetering on the edge of where everyone is going to be listening to them. I hate it when that happens. Anyway, He Is Legend is a great rock group, anyone who has heard their stuff that's NOT from Wilmington should let me know!

Check out mc chris. A buddy of mine downloaded a bunch of stuff from him and gave it to me. Those of you who are familiar with Aqua Teen Hunger Force will recognize him as MC Pee Pants. He's pretty radical, like a super high-pitched and geeky Eminem.

The Psychedelic Furs - Love My Way Rock/70's Punk Um, I'm not good at commenting on this and crap, but that song really does kick ass. And such.

I do not want to waste my official 600th post on something useful, so I'll reccomend this song my friend did called The Huck Finn Song. I could probably send it to one of you, if you want. It is the greatest thing ever.
The story behind the Huck Finn song:
This guy I met during the summer had to do a projecet on Huck Finn a few years ago, and he only read the first two chapters. "Oh bust, what are we going to do now" he said to his friend. They scrambled the night before it was due to write a song, which they finished in approxamtly four hours.
They got an A on the project, and years later, it became the legendary song of KYW.-

I'm going to recommend "Cells" by The Servant. This is the song featured in the Sin City trailer, and it is fantastic. Very trippy, bleak-Franz Ferdinand type of sound.

I'd have to recomend Death From Above 1979's album "You're A Woman, I'm A Machine". Great high energy indie rock. 2 guys with a drum kit and a fuzzed out bass. I'm tellin' ya, it'll knock 'yer socks off. They're comin' to Halifax in May, and I do believe I'll have to go and see them.
