Just bought Fear Factory's newest disc, Archtype, today. It's really good. Replacing Dino Cazares with a new guitarist is the best move they've made.

I just got Franz Ferdinand's self-titled. I've heard them described as Blondie meets garage rock. The album makes me want to dance, and usually I only get that feeling after I've been drinking. I'll see them later this month, and it should be awesome.

I ordered 4 cd's of of Amazon:
The soundtrack for The Tune: Bill Plympton's first full length animated feature, which is about a songwriter who searching for a hit tune so he won't lose his job. It's awesome. All the songs are done in a certain style of American music (Country, Blues, Beach Boys-ish, Elvis, etc). If only I could get an MP3 of the song from I Married a Strange Person, I'd be perfectly content.
The Toughest Girl Alive and Swango, by Candye Kane: A plus-sized former porn star turned swing and jazz musician. Favorite songs are "For Your Love" and "Let's Commit Adultery."
She can play the piano with her boobs. Good clean fun.
2 Cents by Beowulf: You know in Tank Girl, when they're done talking to Sub Girl and they redecorate their vehicles? The song playing over the scene wasn't on the offical soundtrack, which made me cry. Couldn't find it even on Kazaa, so I tracked the band's CD down. I only like two songs on it, but I really, really like those two, so it wasn't a waste.

I just made two awesome finds today. I got both BLACK SABBATH'S PARANOID (to quote teenage girls, "aaaaaaaaaah!") and PRIMUS'S SAILING THE SEAS OF CHEESE, and they were only 13 bucks each!!! I'm very proud of myself

I just bought The Verve Pipe's Platinum & Gold Hits, and the newest Finger Eleven album. Wal-Mart is so good to me.

Just wanted to throw in: I bought Five Iron Frenzy's "The End Is Here" double album. I wish I had gotten into them earlier.

FIF is a great group if you like humor and ska. Their "A Flowery Song" is probably the most kick-ass rendition of the traditional church doxology you'll ever hear.

What doxology might that be? The traditional Southern Baptist one? I'd like to here that one done differently.

Here are the lyrics -- the chorus is the doxology:
Beautiful day, wonderful feeling, this reason to sing, psalms meaning songs singing praises all day long. Joy fills the weak, joy makes us strong. Filled 'till we burst, songs of praise to the God of the Universe.
Despite our selfish selves, despite all loss of hope, despite our lack of faith, despite our stony hearts, despite the waning moon, despite the ebbing tide of how we think this world should be.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow, praise Him all creatures here below, praise Him above ye heavenly host, praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Gray rainy day, down in the mud for us. Don't feel I can sing, songs to the God in control of the seasons. But what's good and bad, flow from the hands, of the God with the perfect plan.

Latest CDs bought by me
Dave Brockie Experience: Songs for the Wrong Gwar - Scumdogs of the Universe Nasum - Human 2.0 Nasum - Helvete Gore Beyond Necropsy - Noise-A-Go-Go DJ NES - The Adventures of... (yippie for nintendo music!)
I tend to buy cds by the fist-full (which makes me poor). I just can't help myself. At least I can find lots good stuff to listen to (which makes me happy), which of course leads me to qoute Frank Black (Lance Henriksen) from the show Millenium (oh, how I miss thee): "It's my gift. It's my curse."
PS I can't believe people are actually posting here. It honestly blows my mind.
PPS Did you know that the "PS" at the end of a document is the abbreviation for "Post Script"?
PPPS (what's with all the stuff jammed between parentheses?)

Praise God from whom all blessings flow, praise Him all creatures here below, praise Him above ye heavenly host, praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. That's the only part I know. We sang it at the offertory at my old church. My church now has kind of kicked that tradition, as well as kicked the tradition of the choir.

I didn't technically "buy" these, but they were given to me as birthday presents, which means someone bought them...I hope...
Beastie Boys - To the 5 Bouroughs: The Boyz do some straight up hip-hop, and don't divulge into too much experimental intrumental stuff (like in "Hello Nasty"), which means it's good, but not quite as musically stinging as I thought Hello Nasty was. You definately can't miss the snippet of Defender wisdom halfway through the album, though.
Eric Clapton - Me and Mr. Johnson: In this album, Eric Clapton ("GOD") channels the musical and mystical energy of Robert Johnson ("THE DEVIL") into a divine aural experience. I heart Eric Clapton. Of course, I did name my firstborn after one of his songs, so it's pretty obvious to those who know me...

Lennon Legend. I'm slowly becoming obsessed with John Lennon... and it all began with listening to my dad's Beatles CD back in February. I'm a little slow on the bandwagon there.
