Beck- Mellow Gold (very cool blend of rock, rap, folk, and probably a million other genres.)
Tom Waits- Rain Dogs (only a few tracks into it right now, but it is very interesting. Kind of creepy, but fun to listen to.)

Got some more stuff. I went a little nuts with the spending.
Bon Jovi- Slippery When Wet Dio- Holy Diver Alice Cooper- Killer (telephone is ringing...) Tom Waits- Franks Wild Years Black Sabbath- Master of Reality
I almost bought "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols", but it was too expensive. I can't afford 16 bucks for a CD!

That's why I bought the cassette. It's only like thirty minutes long anyway - why pay $1.88 a minute?

I just placed an order on Amazon for: -Tift Merritt, Tambourine. It comes out on the 24th. I have her first album, Bramble Rose--I like it. It has a bit of a country feel, but not your typical Nashville sound. She also puts on a great live show -Interpol, Turn on the Bright Lights. It's been on my recommendation list forever, and I wanted to qualify for the free shipping oogieboogie if you like creepy, Tom Waits-sounding stuff, I highly recommend that you check out Crooked Fingers. It's a project that Eric Bachmann (formerly of Archers of Loaf, if that means anything to you) does. There have been 3 full length albums (self-titled, Bring on the Snakes, Red Devil Dawn and one EP of covers, Reservoir Songs). There's definitely a progression in styles (BOTS adds tape loops, RDD has some horns) and I like all of them.

I'll check that out, thanks so much I'm kind of partial to Interpol, too. I haven't heard many of their songs, but what i have heard I like.

I'm dying to get Drive-By Truckers' "Southern Rock Opera" and "The Southern Thing," but I'm completely broke.
I also want Murder by Death's "Who Will Survive, And What Will Be Left Of Them?" They're amazing. "Devil in Mexico" is one of my favorite songs ever and "Killbot 2000" is the most beautiful song about child zombies that I have ever heard. Their sound is kind of like... well, to paraphrase how they describe it, "Imagine if Johnny Cash and the Cure made a horror movie about cowboys."

If you like it, you have to promise to change your avatar.
It's gonna get me in trouble one of these days at work. Though the black and green color scheme of the site in general doesn't help much.

Hahaha what sort of regime do you work at that doesn't allow green, black, or moderately-mildly-kinda satanic imagery? Plus, I haven't been able to find any of their songs, so no deal...yet...maybe .

It's not that they don't allow it, it's just that the color scheme (which is vastly different than any documents I could be working on) is like a big red flag screaming "Magill is surfing on company time!" to anyone who might walk by my cube. oogieboogieman: Try here, here, here, or here.

I finally found "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" at a decent price (8 bucks), so I grabbed for that instantly. I also bought Guns N Roses' "Appetite For Destruction". And I won an eBay auction for Kiss' "Alive" on vinyl, so I'll be expecting that shortly

I'm self replying? Am I the only one who buys music anymore? Anyway, today I bought Probot's debut album. I've mentioned this band in another thread, I believe. This is a definite must-have for metalheads; Dave Grohl's all-star side project, where he brings in metal superstars from yesteryear to sing. The lineup on this album includes Max Cavalera of Sepultra, Lemmy of Motorhead, and Snake of Viovod (side note: saying the singers like that makes them sound like knights of the round table hahaha). Plus an extra track with an uncredited singer (i revealed who it was on my previous post mentioning Probot, so I'll say it again here: it's Jack Black). Plus Davey's liner notes make the album worth buying alone.

I just picked up a copy of Mayhem's "Grand Declaration of War". Such a sweet album. Definitly one of the better black metal albums i've got.

I mentioned this in the soundtrack thread, but I just got the School of Rock soundtrack. So much of it is classic: Sunshine of your Love? Damn right! Immigrant Song? Of Course!! Bonzo goes to Bitburg?? Hell Yeah!!! The tracks on there from the School of Rock and No Vacancy are just more icing on the cake. Like a real light cream cheese icing, where you can eat a lot of it and you won't get tired of it.
