I haven't been buying much music over the past few years, but I go to a lot of shows, which I figure puts more $$ in the artists' pockets. I did buy a CD by Sarah Lee and Johnny a couple weeks ago. They opened for the Old 97's. But I was a bit drunk and lost the CD at a bar I went to after the show. That was one of the last shows I saw at the First Avenue (famous music club in Minneapolis--it's also where they shot Purple Rain) which is now closed indefinitely.

I finally gave in to the hype, and bought the Franz Ferdinand cd. I ain't listened to it all yet, but to me it's very Beatles-esque. With a healthy dose of crack mixed in.

I recently went a cd buying binge, and picked up:
Leftover Crack - F*** World Trade Exit 13 - ...Just a Few More Hits Red Hot Chili Peppers - Freaky Styley Roy Orbison - Super Hits Venom - At War With Satan Sepultura - Chaos A.D. Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine
There's also a few others that i picked up, but can't remember what they were.
I'm somewhere over 200 cds now, and my collection will continue to grow until i feel complete (which will be never).
(note: i did a count of my cds, and i've approximatly 230 of them. I need more)

That's very Gordon Gekko of you, Colin. Do you think Gordon Gekko looks like Michael Douglas in the movie Falling Down? Coincidence? Yes, probably.

On another note: I can't believe this thread has been going since the 20th of May. I can honestly say that I didn't think many people would pay attention to it and that it would die off, but apparently, I was wrong. Woo for me!

My Christmas cd haul was:
The School of Rock Soundtrack Bon Jovi- Crush Ramones- Rocket to Russia Led Zeppelin- IV
Aside from the very slight disappointment of the Bon Jovi album, I am very happy to have them, and they are great new members of my music family ;D.

Last night I ordered "Van Lear Rose" by Loretta Lynn, "Antics" by Interpol, and Ambulance LTD's self-titled album. I haven't been keeping up on the music scene as much as I used to (most of the new music my boyfriend buys are by acts I don't even recognize) so I want to change that. Plus, I got an iPod for Christmas (it's awesome) so time to fill it up with new music!

Mm, "Van Lear Rose" is very good. But my grandmother, a long-time Loretta Lynn fan, wasn't terribly fond of it.

I imagine I'll like "Van Lear Rose."
I got a gift card to Overstock.com, and because I'm nervous about getting clothes online, I purchased "Welcome to Michigan, the Great Lakes State" by Sufjan Stevens and "The Great Eastern" by the Delgados.

I bought (with a Best Buy giftcard) the Tenacious D album. It doth rock greater than many things that have attempted to rock before.

After a long CD Purchasing Hibernation, I got a bunch of albums via eBay. Alice Cooper's "The Last Temptation", Beck's "Odelay", Monster Magnet's "Powertrip", and White Zombie's "Make Them Die Slowly" shall be mine in a week or two! Bwahaha, and so on and so forth.

Over Valentine's Day weekend, they had a sale at Best Buy on "Deluxe Editions" of some pretty impressive classic albums like Weezer, Nine Inch Nails, The Who, Cream, ect. Apparently, "Deluxe Edition" means "extra disc of random stuff". I was unimpressed with the Deluxe version of Cream's Disraeli Gears, but then I spotted Eric Clapton's 481 Ocean Boulevard. The extras? A live disc with some awesome performances of Badge, Let It Rain, Little Wing, I Shot The Sheriff, and Layla (the song that I named my first-born child after), among many others. And that was $16 well spent. Thanks, Best Buy!
