I bought the New York Doll's s/t album on Amazon.ca the other day. I can't wait until it comes to my door. I have "Jet Boy" stuck in my head.

I just got Strong Bad Sings. It's required listening for all Homestar fans, trust me. And don't forget to wait for the secret song!

its the secretist song in the world! I love that cd. We also got the new system of a down cd. I can't stand it, but I liked their old stuff. And we got the new NIN cd, it's ok but I miss old NIN with the band. Now it just feels too much like Trent and a few turn tables

I bought Van Halen's "5150" today. I'm about halfway through it, and I am LOVING it. I'm so glad that it rocks harder than 1984, which is a good album, but has more pop than this one and their debut (the only three VH albums I own). My only problem with it thus far is that Sammy Hagar sounds like he's imitating David Lee Roth at a few moments (especially on "Good Enough"). But when he does his own thing, he is definitely on par with DLR in terms of talent.

I heard a Beck song on the radio the other day I'd thought I'd never hear again. New Illusion. I was like holey crap!

I listen to a lot of albums to review for my youth group teens, and also to pull tracks for mix CDs I make them. Every once in a while I write up reviews on our youth group blog, so I thought I'd post them here if you're interested: Album Review: 4th Avenue Jones "Stereo: The Evolution of Hiprocksoul" Listening to this album, I was struck by one VERY important fact: nearly every single track is extremely playworthy. It's not just one of those records where there's two hits and the rest are filler songs -- "Stereo" is consistently good for the first eight tracks, and decent thereafter. 4th Avenue Jones is a group that's more of a fusion of musical styles than any one genre. Their songs contain rock, rap, soul, and hip hop... and usually a blending of two or more within the same song. The album is themed as a radio broadcast: between each track, the "radio" changes stations, you get some interesting talk tidbits by weird folk, and the new song launches. "Stereo" isn't overtly Christian in its message, although its artists definitely are. Instead, the focus of the album is troubles and despair -- primarly bad situations seen in inner city life -- and how to overcome those challenges through love and music. Instead of many similar-sounding hiphop groups that dwell on violence and destruction, 4th Avenue Jones urges us to rise above praising such acts in song, and instead looking to a better future and bettering ourselves. My personal favorite tracks were the titled "Stereo" (a fast, funky song) and the sweeping, dramatic "Overloaded." The band Grits joins 4th Avenue on the track "Monumental Continental." All of these songs are dripping with emotion, and I highly recommend this entire disc. Check out their website and listen to their tunes: www.4thavenuejones.com/

That's cool. I myself listen to quite a bit of "Christian" music. By which I mean that I am absolutely with most bands on the Tooth and Nail record label. Underoath, Anberlin, Mae, mewithoutyou, FurtherSeemsForever...any of that stuff I would give a yelling and screaming standing ovation to.

I just ordered Come On, Feel the Illinoise by Sufjan Stevens. It's the second album of his project to make a disc for each of the 50 states (the first was Michigan). It's technically not on sale until July, but if you order it on his label's site, they ship it to you right away.
I don't have the full disc yet, but I've found about 6 of the tracks on music blogs and they're great.
Justin, you might like his last album, Seven Swans Several songs, especially my favorite "Transfiguration", are religious without being lame Christian rock stuff. You know, the types that just seem to sing "Jesus, I love you so much! You're awesome!"
