I recently bought Countryman by Willie Nelson, which is the reggae album he's been working on for ten years. He mixes country and reggae, which don't seem immediately reconcilable, but he puts them together with a great deal of success. Most of the songs are originals, but the two best tracks just happen to be covers: a reggae cover of Johnny Cash's "Worried Man" with Toots Hibbert, and a stripped down version of Jimmy Cliff's "The Harder They Come". It's really good (if a little short at 35 minutes), and definitely worth a listen.

i'm listening to "abraham, martin, and john" by dion and the belmonts. what a sad, great song. awesome, awesome.
i traded in some old dvds for the three albums by the weakerthans. regular readers will recognize that their song "aside," used in "the wedding crashers," changed my life and is the number one most played song on two different ipods in my life (long story).
yeah! so for all of you who wrote me to say "the weakerthans are great: buy their stuff!" and "kyle, you're a misogynistic fool!" i have to say "thanks, kids. pour the gin, martha. i'm on my way home."

I bought "In Your Honor" by The Foo Fighters, but it was for my sister. Birthday present and such. *sigh* Such is life.
Oh, and yeah, I'm still alive. Welcome back to me.

John Mayer's "Heavier Things", Alice Cooper's "Dirty Diamonds", and Frank Zappa's "Cheap Trills" arrived from Amazon.ca today. I'm only a few tracks into Heavier Things, and I think I'm already liking it more than Room For Squares.

Picked up Demon Days by The Gorillaz and Move Along by The All-American Rejects. Neither is as good as the bands first albums, but they're both good.

I just got the new Death Cab For Cutie, Plans, and let me tell you folks: it is awesome. Not as good as Transatlanticism, but not much is, really.

I got the new Fall Out Boy album From Under the Cork Tree, as I was seduced by their single (Sugar We're Goin' Down) and how they title their songs (Track #11: I Slept With A Member Of Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me). Alas, I was a bit dissapointed with the album in general, but as I listen to it more and more it grows on me. So I don't really know what to say.
I guess I really should have got Hot Hot Heat instead...

I'm too lazy to look back through the thread to see if anyone else has mentioned it, but I just got the new Rolling Stones album, A Bigger Bang. As much as I like some of their stuff, I've never been as big a fan as lots of other people. I downloaded the album on a recommendation, however, and it blew me away enough that I ran out and bought a copy. Not that this is a startling revelation or anything, but these guys are rock n' roll. This is how music was meant to be played.

It's been so long since I've posted on here. Where has the time gone?
Ah, who cares? On to what I've bought over the last few months (at least, what I can remember):
Sigh - Hail Horror Hail Carcass - Necrotism: Descanting The Insalubrious Type O Negative - Origen of the Feces Buzzoven - Welcome To Violence Voivod - War and Pain (2 cd re-issue)
I know there's more that I've bought, but I really can't think of what they were. Stupid brain... Oh well, I'm just happy to be back.
P.S. I remembered one! Queen - Greatest Hits. You should definitly check that one out!

After going through a phase where I really haven't bought music, I've bought an album at the last two shows I've been to.
Last Saturday I bought Okkervil River's first album, Don't Fall in Love with Everyone You see. My boyfriend bought their second album, Down the River of Golden Dreams and an EP. We already own their third album, but they played a lot of older songs at the show and we liked them.
This past Friday I bought We are the Night Sky by Deadboy and the Elephantmen. We missed the act we wanted to see but stuck around for these guys because they were awesome. The leadoff track, "Stop, I'm already Dead" is a great rocking song to start the workday with.

I got these a while ago, but the two newest members of my collection are Tom Waits' "Real Gone" and the Doors' "Strange Days". Two freaky-deaky little albums.
