Mine is TheBlah. (you think you're uncreative? I don't use the same one everywhere, but there are variations...for instance, my YouTube account is something to the effect of Blaaaaaaaaaaah000000)
Ok, am I the only one having a really hard time finding how to add friends? Is there some sort of search engine that's eluding me?

Well, here's my profile, Ms. Jellybean. I guess that's the best way to do it; just click the "add as buddy" link. Over the last month, I've been to the drawing board many times, trashing two ideas I had, working on a third one, and eventually combining my second and third ideas. I really want to do a good job this time around; I was never really happy with what I came up with last year. On top of the usual essays and exams I'll have to write for school in November, I'm also collaborating with a friend on a children's book and a script for what will hopefully become an episodic radio drama. All this writing's gonna drive me cra-ay-ay-zy!

All this writing's gonna drive me cra-ay-ay-zy! And apparently turn you into Stephen Tyler, if the voice in my head is pronouncing that last sentence correctly.

I just wanted to wish all the participants a great November.
And their relations a successful grieving process.

[Bleep] it, I'll play. I shouldn't. I'm in my first semester of grad school, plus there's the regular MRFH reviews to do, and I own a Wii. But if I don't at least try, I know I'll look back and think, "Oh look, yet another instance of you considering yourself a writer while not actually doing any... uh, writing." Hell, I was competitive and disciplined about athletics, maybe that'll apply to writing too. (Guess we'll find out.) It's not the best month, but at least I just got two tests out of the way. And if anything next November will be even busier, so it's not like it'd be better to wait another year. So I guess what I'm saying is, I'll try. I can't imagine writing 50,000 words about something if my life depended on it and currently I have the barest hint of an idea and exactly two characters, but why let that get in the way of things? More than likely I'll have to stop somewhere along the way and bring shame to MRFH as our first ever dropout, but for now... *cracks knuckles* it's worth a shot. EDIT: Here's my profile.-D

Woohoo! Another victim, idiot, intrepid literary genius to add to our merry band!
Remember guys, it's quantity more than quality. Take it from one who knows--do not stop to edit! No matter what! If you do, angry gnomes will rise up out of your keyboard and chew your fingers off!
It's true!
Good luck ladies and gents!

Okay, I give up on trying to figure out how to add you guys in any easy or reasonable way. Can you post your Nano URL's in the thread please? Mine should be right here. Thanks! Sue

Hmmm, okay, nobody wants me to be their friend apparently. Except OogieBoogie of course! *waves to Oogie!*
But maybe...just maybe...I can get a bit of help out of our intrepid forumites.
Here's the scoop. I have a protagonist who needs a name, and for the life of me, I can't seem to conjure one up that really fits. Female, widowed (I think), late twenties, emotionally defensive, professionally capable, a little snarky, self-reliant to the point where she'd rather make a mistake than ask for help, but essentially good intentioned, honest and not inclined to kick puppies for fun or profit.
I think she's going to be a fun character to work with, but so far every name I've tried to use either comes across as too cutesy, too fluffy or too improbable. Suggestions?
Sue

You should hear some of the things they say about you when you aren't around, Sue. Tsk tsk tsk... *waves back*
I hate naming characters, it can be so awkward. This story is the first time I've come up with a character with the perfect name. And that's just one character in the story.
As for girl names...the only two that come to mind are Roseanne and Daria. Good luck with that!

I never figured out the writing buddy thing myself either. I think I've done all the clicking necessary so far?
My writing has been brought to a screeching halt by what I affectionately call THE PLAGUE. I've been sick since Tuesday and am just now recovering. But I think everything'll be kind of okay as far as NaNo goes. Perhaps.

Hmmm, okay, nobody wants me to be their friend apparently. Except OogieBoogie of course! *waves to Oogie!* *ahem* Last time I add YOU as a friend, missie. As for your character's name, I always thought "Rose" had a nice feminine touch but still conveyed toughness... it does, of course, depend on whether you have an abiding dislike of flower names. And I'm biased, but I do think the name "Ann(e)" has a certain underlying strength to it. I also once coached a very tough girl named Morgan, whose name I really liked. And yeah, Jelly, I think your best option would be to link to your Profile page here like the rest of us did so we can add you. -D
