I have discovered, after a couple of weeks or so on the MRFH forum, that I have a special talent. Any post I make is the most recent on its thread. The post stops dead in its tracks. I am the thread-halter. I have a strange ability to keep people from posting ever again on a thread!!!!

Your mistake is probably staying on topic. If, for example, you reply to a "Star Wars Is GREAT!" thread with a message along the likes of, "I wonder when Alex Winters is going to make another movie, whatever became of him?", then people will take the ball and run all crazy-like off the field.
Forget it, Jellybean. It's MRFHytown.

yeah, what justin said. i'm only around every so often, because i have stumps for arms and it's hard to type with stumps, so i too sometimes kill threads with my "hey, i've got stumps for arms!" pleas for sympathy and then feel bad afterwards.
i forgot what i was talking about. my point is this: just be happy you don't have stumps for arms. and if you do have stumps for arms, uh, i was just kidding about me. i'm just great! sorry about your stumps!

That was like my best laugh of the day. Right there. PoolMan, doesn't that deserve a cartoon version of Stumpy Kyle?
P.S. -- See how quickly we took that off topic? It's just that easy!

Amputee humour, check. As we say here at the MRFH, "Ain't no depth too low!".

And for another random comment...
I have a desk! I know it seems silly, but I've been laying on the floor typing ever since we moved in, and even more than that, I put the freaking thing together myself. And if someone tells you IKEA furniture is easy to put together, laugh at them. Very, very hard.

Well, *I* found it easy. But maybe we have different Ikea desks.

And *I* have taste in furniture, so I don't shop at Ikrappa.

Well, at least Howard was sympathetic when I emailed HIM Actually, I've never had trouble with Ikea furniture before. But this desk drove me nuts. And I have to shop at Ikea, because the problem is I have EXPENSIVE taste in furniture. I found a Pennsylvania House desk that I -love-, but it's about 1000 dollars minimum. Probably more. I just can't justify spending that on a desk for myself when in 3-4 years (or so) this isn't even going to be my office anymore. Besides, it doesn't look like a typical Ikea desk. It's ::Gasp:: real wood! Real cheap wood perhaps, but real wood all the same! Can you tell I'm procrastinating putting my bookcase together?

I used to buy desk kits a lot (never from Ikea though, there just weren't any around me). My computer kept outgrowing the desk, and eventually it got to the point where the only desks that met my requirements were $400 minimum, made of pressboard and looked really bad. So I went to Lowes, bought a bunch of wood and made my own. Pros: cheap and sturdy enough to survive a nuclear blast. Cons: 5 inches too high.

You custom-made your own, and it's the wrong size? ;D

I was just teasing you, and riding off the highs of Pooly's ego. It's a sweet trip.
I personally don't see the big Ikea attraction, Fight Club aside, but if that's your bag, then... paper or plastic.

Heh. All this from a guy with a mannequin instead of a bed.

Oh, I wasn't offended! I was rationalizing as a means of procrastination (And mourning not being able to buy the desk I really liked!) I'm actually not a HUGE Ikea fan. I tend to like more traditional stuff anyway, and I also tend to get sick whenever I go into the store because I get dizzy. But we priced desks at some reasonable furniture stores, and I can tell you the big attraction to Ikea- it's CHEAP. I can not believe how much desks run- it's insane. (Let me tell you, I also can't believe how much decent bookcases run. And do you know how HARD it is to find bookcases anymore? Outside of Ikea, anyway?) But the 200 I paid for my desk was a lot better than the 500 or more I saw anywhere else. Granted, you get what you pay for, but still.... I was using the desk that had housed my family's Tandy computer, so anything is an upgrade! (Real classy high quality pressboard, let me tell you. Caldor special.) Wow. That was a lot longer than I planned on it being.
