With the casting of Simon Pegg, thay have just guaranteed my seeing this movie. I don't know or care about anything Trek (sorry guys), but Pegg? I'm there.

Eh, I think it's more of a ceremonial top ranking there...with the franchise taking a lot of heat in recent years for trampling canon, the nod to its past is nice to see.
And Sarahbot...I am so there too! ;-)

It's kinda crazy... I mean, the whole idea of a Star Trek reboot/revisitation with a completely new cast to take over old roles seemed like the dumbest idea when I first heard it. But gradually I'm seeing a lot of excitement over Star Trek, for the first time since... well, probably 2001 and Enterprise's debut. Let's just hope it's not as big of a bomb as that show became.

Let's just hope it's not as big of a bomb as that show became. Eeep, don't steal my joy...if this movie bombs out, I probably won't have another chance to get worked up over Star Trek...well, ever. And as integral as that show was to my upbringing (long story), that would be a bit of a personal tragedy. But yeah...Enterprise went downhill so fast, so quick...and it had such promise.

Captain Pike Returns.[/url] Bruce Greenwood gets the nod...I can actually go with that. Better than the rumor I heard of Tom Cruise playing the part. Gerk.

Hey, I like Bruce Greenwood too! This is the one fandom I haven't explored, Hollywood, and I have little enough spare time as it is. You can't make me care!
...yeah, okay they probably already have by now. Pout.

More casting news. Winona Ryder as Spock's Vulcan mother.Umm...Vulcan mother? Please tell me the writer just didn't know what he was talking about...every Trek geek knows that Spock's mother was human. No one would mess that badly with canon, would they?

Wow... you know, for having to replace a guy with such distinct features as Nimoy, I think he looks remarkably good! A couple of those through the window shots look like they could actually BE Nimoy.

Mm, you should've heard the inflection of my voice saying "that's interesting" out loud. Well, if this is gonna be a train wreck, it's going to be a fascinating train wreck. Pun not intended. *rimshot*
