The Teaser Trailer for Star Trek XI.[/url] I couldn't help but get a little excited...the moment I heard Nimoy's voice, my hair stood on end...in a good way. I want this to be good. I WANT this to be good.

That makes me giddy in so, so many ways. The Enterprise is Arc Welded?!?! I could weld circles around those guys! Well, probably not, because I'd be either too excited to be working on the Enterprise or expecting something really, really, really weird OR sexy to come down and start some Space-trouble. I always assumed 'San Francisco shipyards' was in space... just... you know... above San Fran. Seems easier to make a ship that big in outer space.
Oh, also, all my nerd friends and I are calling this Star Trek X and Nemesis is Star Trek XI. So the even odd rule still works.

New Star Trek XI imagesI think the 'cautious' part of my cautious optimism just dropped away. I'm officially psyched.

I used to love Trek when I was in my teenage years. These days, after watching Farscape, BSG and early SG-1, Trek is so five minutes ago.
Still, part of me is really looking forward to the new one.
What surprises me is that they chose to re-invent original Trek rather than just creating a new Star Trek franchise. That would have been better I think.
Still, I'm loving the new Spock and the new Scotty (GO SIMON PEGG!).

Oh boy...okay, so I just squeed everywhere...I see the uniforms still look to be as dorky and ill-fitting as the ones on the original show...totally digging Simon Pegg as Scotty...and huh, Karl Urban might not be a half bad McCoy after all.
Still reserving judgment on Pine as Kirk...but Quinto as Spock? Holy %@$)*%@)%, that looks good.
Am currently hating the "new" bridge design though. What the hell?!?

I'm a little curious about that myself. I know they couldn't have them in cardboard sets or anything, but it looks a little modern compared to TOS. We'll see. I nevertheless remain excited.

I'll hold off judging the bridge design, it might be one of those things that looks better in the movie than it does in still frame (though, dang), and I'll keep my caution for Kirk, but I am really really excited for this.

My girlfriend really hates sci-fi. My girlfriend also gave me a "We must go and see any movie DTH wants" token for Christmas. I owe her one for making me sit through "The Devil Wears Prada" (too...many....shoes!). I think you'll see where this is going

Yep. Will you miss her? Hmm... good point. I shall surgically remove her legs beforehand! Then she can NEVER leave me, mwuhahaha!

I'm appalled. What a terrible, terrible trailer.
Sorry for this close-to-nonsense posting. Feel free to ignore it. I just wanted to make a note of my initial reaction for later reference. I know a trailer is never like the movie, and I'll watch it again tomorrow.
But today, I'm shocked. Maybe that's a good thing.

I'm still a bit nervous about a few things...am not sold on the villain, still not sure of Pine as Kirk, and the Enterprise sets look wayyyyy too sleek and shiny...
...but man, I am EXCITED! The external shots, the classic uniforms, Pegg as Scotty...and they kept the real "red alert" klaxon! That makes me very happy! (after that whole Godzilla Scream fiasco, moviemakers should know that some sounds are just not to be trifled with!)
So I am pumped. I am hopeful. And I plan to pull on my gear one more time and head to the theater next May...I've worked every ST premiere since IV, so I'm not going to miss this one!
