Kiddos, just thought I'd post and say it's less than an hour until the first season four episode.
Though surely we all knew this anyway, amirite?

I know I tend to sound like a broken record when I talk about this show, but that was a damn good season opener.
I love that they've reintroduced all the uncertainty and paranoia from the first season and that Gaius is wrestling with God again. I love Kara coming apart at the seams and reacting realistically to her situation. I'm happy that Lee is sticking to his guns and doing his own thing outside of the military. I'm still slightly uneasy at the idea of a Tighlon, but so far they're handling the Final Five beautifully.
And --OMG!!!-- Roslin is staying with Adama!

On the subject of Tigh-as-a-Cylon, does anyone else think that he's still hearing the music? His perpetual unease, the way he asked the others if they could still hear it, and the strains of it that they played in the scene really make me think that he is.

I didn't actually get to watch it until just last night, but, Gah! That was easily the darkest episode the series has ever done. I mean, Cally sort of descended into a shrieking harpy once she had her baby, but that was still pretty cold. I like seductive Tory, though. And did you notice the bulkhead 1701D?

What got me the most was the whole debate among the Cylons. It was insane. Evangelical robots vs. atheist robots... in SPACE! I'm also officially a fan of artsy Starbuck, even though I know there's some out there who don't totally dig it.
Considering I had to Google 1701D (shame on me, I know), I'd say I didn't notice it. I did, however, notice the fact that you could see Orion in the background during the Cylon fight. Since it was definitely a view of the constellation as seen from Earth, that could mean something big.

Well, I guess this mean I'm going to have to read Lissa's article again and again and again until the fall. Or January. Or next April. ARGGH!
Oh, and: OMG! Earth!

No kidding. This hiatus thing SUCKS.
I loved the episode, though. Tigh has got a pair of solid brass, and Lee actually finally grew a pair himself. (About time. Speaking of which... Adama/Roslin SQUEEE!) I loved Baltar actually being effective for a change- I'm starting to really believe he has changed. And I am so glad someone finally gave poor Gaeta a hug, even if it was random officer 6, because that guy needs one. (The undercurrents when Tigh asked him if he wanted to be relieved were awesome though.)
And yeah- OMG! Earth!

Yeah, BSG has a bad habit of picking the best/worst possible way to leave you hanging. I'm still on the fence about whether Baltar has actually changed or if he's just sunk so deep into his own hype that even he can't tell he's full of it.

What convinced me he'd really changed was his confession to Roslin. That was when I really started believing it.

Hello - new to the board. I followed a link here for a discussion on BSG final cylon but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hey odin- welcome!
If you're following the links I think you are, no one's actually discussed it here. But we (or at least I) are/am totally willing!
Although I wrote the article I suspect you read, my bet's changed from Gaeta to Ellen. Will elaborate more in due time, but I'm suddenly hearing squawking from T2 (my kid).

Here's my starting point. In some of the commentaries, Ron Moore talks about using different movies as a theme for the episode. In Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down, he mentions Crimson Tide and the original title of Secrets and Lies for that episode. With the Last Supper Picture (have you seen that?) and the clues that we were supposed to get from that picture; I'm wondering if the superplot for the series is "The Da Vinci Code"? There is a couple of things about this picture: it is a mirror image of Da Vinci's Last Supper, in that all the characters are in reverse order. We are meant to think the empty position at the left of the table is Judas but its not, its Tyrol who is holding a knife (or spear/lance of destiny?). There is also a chalice on the table in front of Lee (Holy Grail?) If this is a take on the Da Vinci code then the Grail is symbolic for the divine bloodline. There is also a connection to the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in that the mythology of the show refers to the Quorum of Twelve. In the LDS church, it is the Quorum of Twelve Apostles. I also surmise that the Final 5 also represent the Knights Templar/Free Masons as the protectors of the grail and builders of the temple. Since the end of Season 4 Part 1; we have now been told that nobody in the picture is the final cylon and that they have known who the character would be from the beginning and apparently there are clues throughout the season 1 DVD's. They have also said it would not be a new character or a dead character. This leaves very few options mostly with minor characters. They have also said that the character has been with us from the beginning. My theory is that we have to look at the virtual characters as representing the missing character. As the saying goes "when you eliminate all the possibilites; whatever remains however improbable is probably true". The Virtual Caprica character says that she is both god and an angel sent by god. There are actually 3 version of virtual Caprica (one in red, one in white and one in blue); as well as a Virutal Baltar now and a Virutal Ellen. And one appearance of a Virutal Elosha. I believe these are all manifestations of the same charater... the final cylon.
