While I agree in general, the floor painting was the first time in a long while that a Heroes chapter-out really made me go "ooooooooooooh!"
It's definitely still on my chopping block, but I've just been really happy with the last few episodes. I wish Sylar would have left the kid at the diner, but I guess I can't have it all.
And whatever happened to Molly? Mohinder mentioned last season that she got dropped off at an airport and that was the last we ever heard of her. I hope she was going somewhere when they left her there.

I was wondering about something the other day regarding Peter's new "one power at a time" restriction. If Ando were to turbo-charge Peter's power, would that bring him back up to his original "copy the powers of everyone around him" state? At first I thought, "Well, maybe, but he would just drop back down to one power at a time when Ando's turbo-charge wore off." True, except... if Peter copies Ando's own power, his body might set up a sort of feedback loop where he's constantly turbo-charging his own duplication power, so he never drops back down to the "one power at a time" state, so he never loses the turbo-charging, and it just keeps perpetuating itself.
I'm not saying that's what they should do, because Peter was getting pretty powerful there and it's refreshing to see him having to make do with one power at a time. But if they ever do decide to bring him back to his original state, I could see that being the route they go.

Then there's the possibility that Peter would just copy Ando's power and be able turbo-charge others people's powers instead of boosting his own. But then would it be a super turbo-charge since it would be both Ando and Peter working together?

Okay, another question, concerning Peter's power... we know that he can only have one power at a time now, and he must touch the person whose power he'd like to acquire... but does he actively acquire it, or does it automatically come when he touches them? I'm guessing it's the former, but the latter could result in some awkward situations. Picture this...
Peter (with flying power) and Puppet Master are on the roof of a building... shots fired, and PM falls off the roof. Peter, knowing he needs to save PM, leaps off after him... but when he catches him, his flying ability is replaced by the useless (at the time) ability to control other people's actions. Both go splat.

It must be an active power instead of passive, his and Matt's original plan was to escape by flying off the roof.

Both go splat. Yeah, someone pointed out after the last episode that when Peter flew in and saved Matt, he grabbed him only by the clothes, didn't make skin-to-skin contact. I'd say it's still a bit up in the air how it works. He showed this episode that he can absorb a power through clothing, it seems like (the power transfer was "shown" in his hand, though it's worth noting that his cheek was touching Nathan's at the time... yay, more hugs for Peter!), but remember that back on the plane, he absorbed Tracy's power totally by accident, so clearly he doesn't have full control yet. I'm guessing -- and it's just a guess -- that Peter has control over whether to copy a power if it's through clothing or he's really concentrating, but if he makes skin-to-skin contact with someone and he's not concentrating, he'll automatically absorb their power. I also found it hilarious that Peter's demand for not releasing the tapes was that Matt and Daphne be released, but not anyone else. He probably knew they wouldn't agree to release everyone, and I'm sure he wasn't in a rush to secure Tracy's release, but Nathan probably would have agreed to at least another person or two in that theoretical exchange. Sucks to be Mohinder. -D

So given the events of last week's episode (Daphne dying and Tracy kinda dying with room to bring her back if the writers want)... correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't they now officially swept the deck of every main character introduced after the first season? All of them are either MIA (West, Maya, Monica) or dead (Elle, Daphne, Tracy, Adam, etc.) True, Danko's still here, but I don't think any of us expect him to continue on past this story arc; and sure, Knox or Doyle could always show back up eventually, but they aren't really main characters. For all intents and purposes, we're back down to all season 1 characters again.
I'm definitely enjoying this storyline far more than seasons 2 or 3.1, but the constantly shifting motivations of characters continues to drive me mad. Nathan and Sylar are maybe the worst offenders, but all of them have shifted goals so often that I don't know what any of them want anymore. (Okay, except Hiro and Ando: "to be a hero" and "to see a woman naked," respectively.) I know the writers are still trying to repair the damage they did to the show in recent years, but I'm really hoping we get some consistency soon. Nathan can be morally gray without having to completely change positions every five episodes- he wants everyone to have powers... no, he wants to imprison everyone with powers... no, he just wants to protect everyone. Pick one!
My final thought is that Danko is a complete moron for letting Sylar take the shapeshifter's power. Working with him is stupid in itself, but at least you can kind of see why he might agree to it. But giving him shapeshifting? Other than feeding him someone whose power is literally omnipotence, how could that possibly be a worse idea? Give the insane killer the means to pose as anyone he wants at any time? They depowered Peter, but Sylar is definitely threatening to become too powerful.
(On the other hand, if Peter copied Sylar's ability and managed to avoid "the Hunger" that mysteriously disappeared and hasn't been mentioned since, he could use the empathy aspects of it to copy people's powers without killing them... I mean, who's more empathic than Peter?)

Wait- Adam the underwater breather died? I missed that, or forgot it.
I agree that they're flipflopping WAY too much. It's getting really annoying, because I keep expecting the show to have continuity and then I get confused and frustrated. Oi. Also, can we kill off a few more male characters here, please? To quote old Hot Dog, "How many dead chicks are there?"
Shapeshifter Sylar scares me. Dumb move on Danko's part. REALLY dumb move.
I must admit that the concept of Hiro and Ando having to deal with a baby amuses me to no end. I'm easy for a laugh that way.

No, no, no - Never aging Adam is dead. Underwater Guy is now living as Bob Smith in the Midwest. It's so funny you say that, Drew. When they killed Daphne I actually said, "There went the last of those other season characters right?"
So we've been playing the "What's Danko's Deal?" game around here. My guess, he's dying of a disease, and hates special people in some sort of misplaced anger. Aside from looking worse in each episode, last night's shaky hand seems to support. We've come up with two other possibilities: 1) A person with abilities did something to him making him both hate such people and it is killing him 2) He was part of one of the super soldier experiments, but it went wrong.
I wish the show would find some solid direction to go in. It's frustrating me.

Adam/Kensei the Japanese hero died (when Arthur absorbed the healing factor that was keeping him alive). I don't actually even remember if the water breather's name was Adam, was it?
The flipflop treatment is pretty weird, but keep in mind we're seeing stuff now that was written a good while back... if they keep going on the direction they're in, I agree with Drew that it's an improvement.
I like Danko's character. He's kind of like Noah without the conscience that his family has bestowed on him. One of the things I like about HRG is that even without powers, he's a match for most of the powered characters - he's even gotten the drop on Sylar once or twice. So it's very interesting to me that they've introduced a character who has the same ruthlessness and capability, but without a daughter, wife, and son to keep his sensibilities in check.
Anybody else laugh with the realization that Claire will never be drunk in her life? Too funny.

You know it kinda seems like they're going to try to go back to the Five Years Gone episode (though obviously[i/i] not exactly the same: Niki's dead, New York didn't blow up). Sylar can shapeshift, Matt has a baby with an ability, people with abilities are being hunted down.
Which would fit into the whole "let's pretend the last season and a half didn't happen" idea.

Tangentially related, but Lady Luck is a fan of Joan of Arcadia and occasionally the Sci-Fi Channel will run marathons, so every couple of months we'll come home to a DVR half-filled with episodes. This weekend was one such occurrence, and one of the things we both noticed is that Joan's new friend introduced in season 2 looked awfully familiar, but neither of us could quite place her. A quick trip to imdb informed us that she was none other than the President's daughter on this season of 24!
But even cooler (and actually Heroes related)- the premise of the show is that God appears to Joan in various guises, some of them recurring and some just for one episode. I looked up from my book at one point because God's voice sounded awfully familiar, and who should be playing the Lord but... Zachary Quinto! That's right, everyone's favorite psychotic serial killer was portraying an aspect of the Almighty. What was hilarious is that he looked and sounded just as creepy as he does as Sylar.
"Listen carefully, Joan, this is the most important thing I've asked you to do yet. I need you to lure-... I mean, convince the cheerleading squad to be waiting in an empty classroom after school ends." "The... cheerleading squad? I don't understand, how will that help make the world-" "I said do it!"

Stuff happened, but I only came away with two thoughts:
Sylar is Norman Bates.
Micah could've totally won him over by saying he was "special" a few more times. Maybe put one of those smiley face stickers on his hand, or a gold star.
Repeat after me Sylar, "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me." If you want to change it to "and doggone it, people fear me" well that works too.
