if only i'd woken up earlier ... al, you stole my guess, grrrr. *sigh* okay so i'm gonna go with what i've got and guess 7th heaven. if i'm right ... i'll say season 1.
Sadly, you aren't. Sorry!
Time for another clue: Lady Luck lived in Jersey the first couple years of her life, but she only owns two movies that take place in the Greatest State- one DVD, one VHS. And she's not a fan of Garden State, or of immature/slapstick humor. Also, one of the movies never specifically mentions what state it's in, you have to figure it out.

March of the Penguins?
...is that even out yet? Bah, I'm terrible at this game. At least most people have heard of this one.
From jockeying the register at Barnes & Noble, I can assure you that it is out, with just as much confidence as I affirm that we don't have it. Sorry!

I don't live in the US, and when I think "New Jersey films" I think Kevin Smith. So maybe...
Clerks?
You're definitely on the right track, but while Clerks is one of my favorite movies, it's not Lady Luck's favorite of the series...

what about dogma? (one of my favorites!)

One of mine as well, Ash, and rest assured it's on our shelf, but it's not her favorite of the bunch. For that, look down one post...

I'm gonna guess Chasing Amy. I would've guessed Clerks too, but you said she doesn't like immature humour, and from what I remember, Chasing Amy is the most "mature" of the bunch.
Oogie picks up on the clues and slaps the puck in for the point! Indeed, Chasing Amy is one of the two New Jersey-set movies Lady Luck owns; and, as one of the ones we have duplicates of, will be won by some lucky contestant before this contest is through!

So another aquatic movie? How about "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou"?
Sorry... too salt water.

Since it is officially the next day, I am going to toss in one more guess before I go to bed.
How about "Jersey Girl" for the second Jersey-based movie?
Nope- that one explicitly takes place in Jersey, while the actual movie only hints at it.

so i just finished watching empire records, and it hits me - it takes place in jersey! der, atlantic city ... and such a great movie too, so hopefully "lady luck" owns it (or someone in that house does). thankfully i realized this after midnight (barely) so i don't have to worry about oversleeping again . - ashley t. We can't fret today... not on Rex Manning day! That's right, Ashley picks up on the Atlantic City clue and gets the veto! We actually have 3 copies -- my Remixed edition on DVD, my regular DVD (on permanent loan to my sister at college), and Lady Luck's old VHS copy.

I was about to write "Chasing Amy" before, dang it. Could the other aquatic movie be "Shark Tale?" Nope... I think you're all thinking a little too kiddie. This one would probably be appreciated more by the adults...

I'll go with Runaway Bride for $200, Alex...
With only 89 days left, I don't need her getting those kinds of ideas, Sue. Nyet- but after the Jersey movies have been guessed, I can tell you all that one of the other movies has a state name in the title.

Hmm...assuming the other aquatic movie is also kid friendly, I'll guess The Little Mermaid.
Did I mention it doesn't actually take place in the water? It's really the title more than anything else...

If she has a TV-on-DVD series that comes from the same network as Gilmore Girls, I would like to guess Buffy The Vampire Slayer. It was on the WB for a while, at least.
Ba-ZAM! The doctor is in the house! Yes indeed, possibly the only geek thing she likes that I don't, Lady Luck owns two Buffy season sets. Care to guess at which they are? (Hint: though I'm not a fan, I thought I'd give it a shot one day and bought season 1 for $13; thus, that one is mine, not hers.)
And a reminder, everyone- the other show also aired on the WB, and ran for 4 years.
Hooray for guessing! Well, if she didn't have Season 1, I'm going to guess that she has Seasons 2 and 3, as they seem to be the most well-loved among the Buffy geeks. I don't know if this counts as a guess for today, so I'll wait for official word before posting today's DVD guess.
Yes, teeth, this counts as your guess for today (in place of guessing one of the remaining movies), and unfortunately it is incorrect. She does own season 2 (purchased for one episode, the one where Buffy and Angel get possessed by the ghosts of a student who murdered his lover/teacher), but not 3. And the other season she owns was a gift, though I doubt that will really tell you anything.

Prince of Tides?
Not unless he's a prince who breathes underwater, nope. Way too long ago.
Meanwhile, I'm feeling generous, so here's some more clues! Among the DVD films, aside from the one with the state name in the title, one takes place in Philly, one in Hawaii, and one in England.

WB...4 years. It's a shame we don't technically get that network on Canadian cable, but we do still get all the shows. I shall guess Felicity, and hope that if I am right, it is Season 1 because most people start with the first unless they are me. Score one for the Canucks! Felicity is indeed the third and final TV show that Lady Luck owns on DVD. For 2 bonus points, care to guess what specific seasons she owns (recently supplemented by a Christmas gift from my parents)? So I take it Season 1 was wrong? If what she owned was also supplemented by a gift, then let's go with the entire series. Nope, not just season 1, but it's not the entire series either. Feel free to guess again tomorrow!

For the film that takes place in Hawaii, I'll guess Lilo and Stitch.
Sadly, you'll guess wrong. In fact, there are no more animated films on the list.
