OK, for the state named ones, how about Mystery, Alaska?
Good guess, but nope!

state name ... chick flick ... Sweet Home Alabama?
Ashley continues kicking names and taking ass in this game with yet another correct answer! Yes, to my eternal chagrin and embarrassment, Sweet Home Alabama currently resides on our shelves as well. Why, I had to go out and buy another Rocky movie just to cancel it out.

Hawaii made me think of Punch-Drunk Love but there's another Sandler movie that seems more up Lady Luck's alley...
Howzabout 50 First Dates?
There is no Dana, only... 1 point! Yep, zuul is absolutely correct. Lady Luck would like me to add that she hates Punch-Drunk Love (though I like it), and further that I ruined 50 First Dates for her by wondering aloud why Drew Barrymore doesn't get suspicious on those days when it's her, um, time of the month. (Hey, I wondered... so sue me!)
Of course, that still leaves: -1 aquatic life-titled, non-animated, non-kids movie that takes place primarily on dry land -1 movie taking place in Philly -1 movie taking place in England -1 movie with the name of a president in it -1 Rob Reiner movie, not the one you're thinking of -1 movie set in NYC where I supposedly look like one of the lead teachers, according to Lady Luck, though my sister refutes it -1 movie that references a comic book movie but is not itself a comic book movie (or a Kevin Smith movie).
Get crackin'!

I dunno if this fits with any of the clues except the water one but here goes: Blue Crush
I do enjoy the, ahem, scenery in that movie (though come on, no rash guards yet they never have chafed stomachs? I'm sure...), but it would be more up my alley than hers. Sorry!

Awesome! but dammit! I'm almost completely certain of three of four movies and this enduring 24 hours of not being able to guess is going to drive me crazy. Which one to pick first? I guess I'll have to pull a SpankyLoo and do the one that seems most obvious from the clues first...
Mystic River?
Alas, no life in that river... sorry!

I give up on the Felicity seasons. I will try for the English movie...Love, Actually?
P.S. - I thought of that 'time of the month' thing in 50 First Dates and really grossed out my guy friend by bringing it up. So you aren't alone!
Ding ding ding! You are absolutely correct, good lady- Love Actually is indeed one of them. Lost count of the number of times I've seen that one, let me tell you. (And I always meant to ask, Sue- are the bars in Wisconsin true to their portrayal in this movie? Because if so, engagement or not, I'm coming to visit. Tomorrow.)

Ok, aquatic film again: Big Fish? YES! Thankfully, we can finally put this one to rest (before someone got around to guessing A Fish Called Wanda). And a previously viewed version will be won by one lucky contestant!UPDATE: Yay!

i feel so special ... zuul noted "pulling a spankyloo." how hot does that sound? So hot, it's illegal in 11 states. No wait, 12... Texas finally caved. i'm actually sitting in school and bored but i don't have a guess right now ... i'm thinking about it though!

you know what? nevermind, i do have a guess ... how about for the philly movie National Treasure? you gotta admit, that was a fun movie to watch, and i don't even like history.
- ashley
It may have been fun to watch, but neither Lady Luck nor I have ever seen it... and unlike me, she's actually watched all of her movies. Sorry! I'll toss out the major hint that the Philly movie is also one of the number-in-the-title movies.

Aah, Big Fish...that makes so much more sense now.
Let me tell you guys from experience, pulling a SpankyLoo is not as hot as it sounds. It actually kinda hurts a little. The good hurt, though. The playing-with-a-loose-tooth kind of hurt. Man, those were the days.

Could one of the numbered movies be "The Sixth Sense?"
I see correct answers! They're everywhere, they don't know they're correct!
Yes, loulabelle nails it. I also was looking askance at the timing, but zuul is right- since loulabelle's down undah, she was still obeying the rules of the game. Nicely done!

Oooh man, The Sixth Sense is sooo the Philly/number-in-some-capacity/one-alluded-to-in-response-to-Girl 6 and I was just about to guess that! I was about to call you on the only one per day thing, loulabelle, until I realized you live in down under. Oh, well.
I'll go for the president one. I can think of two possibilities but...let's see-ee-ee-ee-eeee... Truman Show?
Good morning... and in case I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good night! Yes, zuul proves more savvy than Truman himself by piecing together the clues. Only three movies left, gang, all VHS! (Though for those who guessed the Buffy and Felicity season sets, you have until the last movie is correctly guessed if you'd prefer to try going after 2 points by pinning down what specific seasons Lady Luck owns.) Damn, it feels exciting to be running this.

i'm not too late, am i?
i'd like to guess the song "walking in memphis" by marc cohn. it's a crazy song!
That it is, my crazy coastal friend... that it is. Darn good one, too. There's a pretty little thing waitin' for the King, down in the Jungle Room.
okay: what do i win? awesome!
Kyle, I'd give you a prize, but I suspect I'd either find it on eBay tomorrow under the heading "Random junk from world-famous movie reviewer" or have it returned to sender marked "No such person" beside your name.

I don't think that wins you anything. But you've stolen my heart. And I'd like it back, Sir.

Ok, so I know you said it wasn't the Rob Reiner I'd be thinking of...but someone already guessed When Harry Met Sally, so I am going for this anyway...
The Princess Bride?....Westley is dreamy.
(NB: The book is even better, if you can believe it...inconceivable!)
Inconceivable indeed, as it is not our Rob Reiner movie du jour. (And the Spinal Tap DVD is mine, not hers.) I'd go so far as to guess that most of you haven't even seen this Reiner movie, though it does have some A-list stars in it.
