I didn't see a thread for this television show, which lead me to two conclusions: 1: I should probably make one since Heroes has potential to be one of the cooler shows on TV. 2: I'm so ashamed of you! All of these geeks here and not-a-one of 'em thinks to make a thread about a TV show that features ordinary people who are randomly given superpowers. I mean, come on guys. heroes.nbc.com/

Well, I watched this last night. I thought the last 20 minutes or so were the best (and the final painting reveal got me excited for the season). I'll follow it for a while, but I can see that if this show gets bad, it will get really bad.

I really liked it, and am going to give it a serious shot. As long as it lives up to the promise of the first episode I'll be happy.

Very intriguing, it's great that the characters live in our astral-plain(they have Star Trek, X-Men comics). Nice to see some of the usual comic super powers such as regeneration ( I think the girl regenerates faster than Logan) flight and teleportation, and even more nice to see more of the "abstract" super-powers such as predicting future events (or maybe only future disasters).
I'd like to hear your opinions on what could be the blonde's super power? Some kind of multiplication, maybe? You guys have had way more acces to comic-books than I, so I'm wondering.

Damn writers, always bringing time travel into the equasion. It's not enough he can bend space he can also bend time, I guess even in the realm of tv-series you can't get something for nothing(for full description of the law of equivalent exchange see Full Metal Alchemist), big drawback to teleporting all over the world while it may seem like a second to you it actually takes up more time then flying(at least in our time continuum). So now what, they have 5 weeks to stop the nuking of New York? It's gonna get more interesting when we see what that symbol is about, and when and if they start banding together Justice League style.

Yeah, I want to see them start to come together. I think the previews last week got my hopes up for that, so I was a bit disappointed. Right now the brothers are my favorite part (though the Japanese guy comes very close).
There was a little too much of a "last time on..." feel in last night's episode. I hope it's just because it was the second episode and not that they're going to pad out the whole show like that. It'll get old fast.
I'm still distracted over what exactly the woman with the kid's power is.
Oh, and not only 5 weeks to stop the nuking of New York, but 5 weeks to save the artist from getting his head cut open.
And the chick in the apartment = bad guy. Mark my words.

You mean the chick that's overly-friendly with the proffesor's son? Yeah, the one he told everything including the kitchen sink to. Someday I'm going to bother to start learning the characters' names, but for now I dub her... Lizard Chick. Lizard Chick is a minion of Evil Glasses Man.

I agree. I had the same feeling about her because she looks really vulnerable, and while looking for the lizard they almost head-butted themselves leaving a few seconds free for romantic innuendo. Now about the Professor's Son, knowing he is a scientist, researching his dad's stuff, and owning a laptop in 2006, wouldn't he know what a freakin' flash-drive is? "It's a portable hard-drive" ...weak. Theories about the Blonde Mom's powers: could she be suffering from some kind of split-personality taken to super-power form? Because she doesn't multiply per-se since she has those black-outs, and wakes up in airport parking-lots with tidy cloathes on, hours later than her last memory. Now, I think Evil Glasses Man is linked somehow to this Syler or Cyler character, and we can be sure this super-powered killer killed the artist because his brain was missing, just like the frozen guy's brain. Do they need their brains? to study? experiment on? I think we should stick to the dubbing of their names, if we try to learn them it will be confusing: we'll have, Blonde Mom, Lizard Chick, Evil Glasses Man, Young and Old Flying Brother, Japanese Dude etc.

Theories about the Blonde Mom's powers: could she be suffering from some kind of split-personality taken to super-power form? Because she doesn't multiply per-se since she has those black-outs, and wakes up in airport parking-lots with tidy cloathes on, hours later than her last memory. The more I think about it, the more it sounds like X Men 3's Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix (I specify the movie because I don't know a whole lot about the comics). But that wouldn't explain what her power is. So I guess the question: Is she crazy, but with powers? Or is her lapses in memory, etc. part of her powers, meaning she does have some sort of double? So... unless her power is to kill people, dispose of the bodies, and clean up the mess, what is it? My theory is, is that this Syler guy is another one of "them" and that he can, or believes he can, gain powers by eating their brains (braaaaiiiiins). As to how much he and Evil Glasses Man are related I haven't decided my standing on that yet. Fantastic!

Yes, I agree with the supposition that Syler is also one of them, primarilly because of what the female cop said about the fact that the body could have been lifted there by about 3 people, and the phone message on the professor's machine, we can safely assume that the professor tracked him down and told him and taught him about his super-potential, however this guy went the way of the villain, as there was need of at least one with super-powers.
Have you thought that maybe, I dunno, some of them will choose to use their powers for less than nobile purposes? I mean I think it's safe to assume that the Japanese Dude, PoliceMan and Young Flying Brother will, but what about the others?
Blonde Mom has some shady dealings to work through, Older Flying Brother isn't interested in his powers, the Artist is a heroin addict, the Cheerleader is impresionable and invincible kind of a blonde version of the X-23, I think in their cases it could go either way.

Ohhh, I hadn't even thought about the characters that were being focused on going bad. That could be pretty interesting.
What I was trying to say about Syler (and this is why I don't usually post in the morning, what I say only makes the right sense to me) is that I think he's working independently. After having his eyes opened up by Professor Sr. he's doing very bad things on his own. Not necessarily with Evil Glasses Man. Also that either his power actually does, or he believes possibly could, take other "thems'" powers via consumption of the brain. Now don't ask me why I'm so convinced on the 'eating the brain' thing, but it's what I'm thinking. I could just be in a morbid state of mind.

You might just be in a morbid state of mind. I don't think we can speculate more until the next episode. But Evil Glasses Man is definitely working with or for someone.

I missed the premiere but caught the second episode. It felt to me like all the characters weren't given enough attention or really strong personalities. Hiro was pretty strong (because he was just funny nutty), but everyone else just kind of left me cold (except for the proffesor's kid...he's way stupid). I'm going to keep watching for a while but I think we were spoiled after Lost managed to create interesting characters (w/o superpowers) we could attach too even though there's like 20 of them.

I've never watched Lost, too much hype repels me. Maybe I'll watch it 2 or 3 years after it ends.
