Kudos to StarOpal for sticking to her brain eating(or removing I might say) theory, apparently that is the only way you can kill The Cheerleader. However everything seems to hang on her power, what do you think that she will save New York by absorbing the bomb's explosion? or somehow surviving it or something? I must think that her power will allow her to sustain apocalyptic-like damage and still carry on, much like Wolverine did in X3. I would say "great minds..." and all that, but I was probably just subconsciously remembering what you said. So kudos to Storm Rider! |

Okay, I like the whole Cheerleader/Creepy Glasses Daddy storyline, but it commits one of the most irritating plot line crimes. NOBODY TELLS ANYONE ANYTHING FOR NO REASON. Even when it's a life or death situation. Okay she knows she's got powers, he knows she knows she's got power ('cause he saw the video of her many attempts to hurt herself), and it's come down to "keep her from going to Homecoming or she dies." So what does he do? Does he let her in on it so she a) doesn't feel so alone b) keep her from going, and c) not have to drug up the artist? Of course not! Then we wouldn't have an episode! Makes me crazy. Communication, people: it's not just something you can get a degree in.
Oh well, at least Younger Brother got to shine.
Again with the clock work noises... What is that!?

Last night was pretty cool and I'm glad that they are still going with new episodes rather then leaving us on a cliffhanger like so many other shows would do. The one thing that now really bothers me is that while the studio has no issue using subtitles for when Hiro speaks Japanese they do seem content on promoting English as the new main language of India. I'm a bit confused as to why they went that route  |

I'm a bit confused as to why they went that route Well this is only a guess: Maybe because so much action takes place in India? It's only Hiro and... Endo(yes, no?), and for an episode Charlie speaking Japanese. Also, the language barrier has been used as a plot device twice now. Whereas you have *counts* somewhere around ten Indian characters*. That would be a lot of subtitles on screen for a long period of time. At least that's my theory. *Prof., Prof. Jr., Mrs. Prof., two friends, possible girlfriend, guy on street, Dream Child. That's off the top of my head. |

And that's my problem with a lot of television today. You take what is potentially a smart story and then make changes to it to accommodate the uneducated audience. I just don't see why it would be all that bad to have 10 characters all speaking Hindi for half a show for probably 3-5 episodes (you know he's coming back to the US). It would add a lot more flavor and culture to the series. It really urks me whenever a character in a film or a tv show looks down upon subtitled programing. Kids see that and get the impression that reading is bad and everything has to be as simple as possible. It's with this kind of mentality that the entertainment industry is spreading that is causing us to raise a generation of Dee Dee Dee's. Sorry for the rant  |

Or maybe it's a something simple like not all the actors speak Hindi. India has like 40 official languages, including English.
In the movie Monsoon Wedding the characters alternate between English and Punjabi, sometimes within the same sentence. At some points, their conversations are entirely in English.

Actually, I belive as far as official languages of India go there are 22, each spoken by 1 million+ people. But when taking into account all the various dialects spoken the count goes over 800. Hindi is the most common language spoken by roughly 30% of the population with English being the major language of politics and commerce.
I guess given the professors backround I would understand why he and his family would be so fluent in English but that would still not be the language which they would use in a regular conversation. But you're mostly likely correct in that the actors simply did not speak the language and this was easier then going through possibly 100's more interviewees.

Of course, it's possible it could just be a matter of the cost of Hiro, Ando and Charlie (the waitress) speaking Japanese with subtitles for a few mintues each episode (maybe four or five minutes/episode, tops) as opposed to the cost of entire scenes where everybody speaks Hindi/Punjabi/whichever language the characters in the India scenes would be speaking throughout several of the episodes. It could just be a money thing.
Though I completely agree about Americans not being hip to the subtitles (as a good friend of mine hilariously put it, "Americans can't read... or at least they don't want to.")

You should definitely check it out if there's a marathon, Kyle. But, my guess is, they probably won't have one until closer to January 22 when the show comes back on.
Good episode! An almost two month wait? How will I survive without my Heroes? At least I have two different seasons of Dr. Who to help me get by.

Okay, I really wanted to watch this show, but first semester of college apparantly does not aloow the watching of a weekly TV show regularly. Thankfully I fixed my schedule for next semester to permit me all of my favorite shows.
I read all of the plot analyses & stuff on "Heroes" and I think I have a really good grasp on what's going on. Do you think this'll be enough for me to start watching next Monday with? Mind you, I'm also a gal who started watching "Lost" halfway through season 2 and didn't have much trouble adjusting to the plot. Just wanted to get your opinions since you've all been faithful thus far.
PS -- Milo Ventimiglia was totally hot on "Gilmore Girls," and had I known he was on this show I for sure would've dropped class or bought TiVo something... Okay, just wanted to fit in my silly teen-fangirl-ness somehow.

Anyone still reading this thread/watch the episode of Heroes on Mon.? Pretty awesome stuff. Love how Isaac, Hiro and Ando, Nathan and Monique have all hooked up. Gah, this show is so cool! Next week's episode looks kickin'. Can't wait.
