Try out Card's anthology collection Maps in a Mirror. It shows his full range of talents from fairy tales to sci-fi, to horror. All are very good short stories, and some are still powerful to me. Coincidentally enough, this collection is going to be re-released this month in paperback. I see it's listed on Amazon and Barnes & Noble - I'll have to check out the bookstore this week, pick up a copy. Thanks for the recommendation! Also try Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus. Yes, it involves time travel of sorts, but I really liked it. Cool, add another one to the list. ;D Looks like I'll be prepared for my next few trips out of town, after hitting the bookstore soon...

OH GOOD GOD can I relate to that. Dang, I ain't even thought of that game in a couple of years, and it's been nearly four years since I gave all my cards away to my best friend's two younger brothers. "Magic: The Gathering! It's like crack...FOR NERDS!" Yea, it was addictive.... we would stop by the comic store, buy a few packs, go through the "got it, don't got it" drill... then back in to buy a few more, once you saw what cool cards your friends got I remember playing with a few other engineers over lunch every day, in the cafeteria. One of our coworkers (who didn't understand the whole MTG phenomenon) came up to ask us about what we were playing, after hearing the commotion down the hallway. Not thinking, she picked up one of the 20-sided dice to inspect it, and was greeted by several "adults" yelling "NOOOOOOO!!!" at the top of their lungs. Needless to say, she didn't come back into the cafeteria when we were playing our games. ;D

Hey, even though you misspelled the word, I can think of no other 11 yeard old that knows what the word eclectic MEANS, so that is an accomplishment in itself. ;D As soon as you buy it, flip right to the story "Mortal Gods". While it is only 5 pages long, I've found it to be one of the most powerful stories I've ever read. It still brings tears to my eyes everytime I read it.

"Eclectic" has been popping up an awful lot here lately.
It would be a hoot if it ended up that none of us actually know what it means. A hoot, I tell you!

I can think of no other 11 yeard old that knows what the word eclectic MEANS Hahaha... just in case you're serious, BDC is not 11 years old. He's in his 20's, I believe, having done martial arts for 11 years. I read his sentence the same way. Although, that may explain the crayon fixation...

Heh, I hadn't been on in a couple of days so I didn't get into some of this stuff but yeah, Orson Scott Card doth rock. I've read the whole Ender's series and the Bean spin-offs (they're not really sequals or prequals, so I'm calling them that). I was also into Magic when I was little. I think I bought more 5th edition than anyone in the world when it was about to go out of print because I wanted Seraph. I hope I won't waste my money like that again.
I still have a few decks laying around somewhere I think. My last decks I made (reconstructed them a half a year ago when I was bored, probably made them 3 years ago) were a white/blue flying deck, a green/black "get big creatures out fast" deck, and a blue/red counterspell/burn deck. Oh, and there was also a green deck that wasn't very good.

I used to have an all-white deck. It wasn't good in a two-player game, but it was deadly in a multiplayer game. The guys would sit there and murder each other as I quietly built up my army of walls, Sera angels, and something else- I forget what. (It might have been a white/blue deck, actually.) Then when the attention finally turned to me, it was freaking impossible to get through- especially with all the healing stuff I had. Slow deck though.

I have a blue/white actually. It's older stuff, I haven't really bought anything in a while, but it's chock full of counters and heavy hitters.
Now, my manabarbs deck, that's the one that's for like, tournament play. I have a slew of mana producers and slam manabarbs on the table. I use elves and such while you squirm each time you tap a land. Ah....
